Day Seventeen: Icky Sicky

So…today was interesting. Magic woke up and was still not feeling well. I told her she needed to let our supervisor know and she agreed. We went up to work and she got a pass to the medical center. I went about my morning working with the kids and we got to do our sports morning outside this week. When I got back to the center, my supervisor told me that Magic did have GI and that I had to go get checked…after I helped with the 2-5 parade. They were short staffed again with Magic out and one of the other girls taking her safety test.

So I went down to the medical center and they asked me questions about how I felt and took my temperature. I’m okay, but I have to have my temp taken tomorrow, too. Even though I haven’t been sick, I’ve felt nauseated all day long. I think it’s a mental thing. So far (knock on wood) I have not experienced anything that Magic did. She is on full quarantine for 24 hours. That’s right, QUARANTINE! I think they let her go to get some things from the room because when I went to do it I noticed some of her things randomly missing. I had our room steward change out all our linens and glasses, and sanitize our bathroom. I’m hoping I’ll avoid the whole thing.

Other than that, work was fine except that I was a couple minutes late to each of my shifts! I kept waking up from naps late. I jumped around some more between the age groups, and pizza making was a little hectic, but the time really went by quickly. There’s still drama/struggles between some of the staff, but I don’t know how it will all work out.

Oh! And I requested and was approved to be here an extra week. That means I am officially at my halfway point. I wanted to stay longer, but didn’t want to leave Jim longer and didn’t want to miss too much of my break, so a week seemed like a good way to handle the whole thing. I’ll leave New York on July 6. Don’t miss me too much more!
