New York City!

Well, it’s the day before I leave with the ship! I got to fly to NYC with my friend, Leah. She’s moving up here for an internship this summer and then (if she gets a job) will be staying here awhile. We happened to be traveling the same day, so we got to fly together!

Right now she and her parents are picking up keys to go to her apartment. I’ll be meeting up with them later to go see “Young Frankenstein.” I’m super excited! More on that later. I’m in the bar of the JFK Ramada Plaza Hotel. Free Meal + Expensive City = super yummy chicken fingers. Would they be this good if they weren’t free? Maybe. Anyway…I’m off to Manhatten now! I’ll share more details later on!

Is This Ironic?

I leave 2 weeks from tomorrow. That's right. TWO weeks. Crazy/scary. So Jim is watching TV as I am passing through the room and they make a comment about the search still being on for a woman who went overboard on a cruise ship.

Jim of course gets a look on his face that can only be described as, "you have got to be kidding me."

So, we keep watching to find out what happened (and hope that it was some kind of freak accident that won't be a concern). Of course, what is the next piece of news? They continue with their cruise ship reveal just to tell us that the ship this woman fell off of us was none other than the NORWEGIAN DAWN!

That's right, the ship I will be living on for a month. At that point, Jim started glaring at me.

Here's the link to the article.
Crazy. So needless to say, Jim's a little worried. It sounds like either a drunk woman or a murdurous boyfriend. Either way, not something I will have to deal with.

Super Excited

Don't know if I said this, but the cruise I'm working on docks in New York City every Sunday. That excites me a lot because there is a possibility that I'll get to see some of my friends from time to time. But, I don't know about that for sure so I have to get excited about other things. And this one is a doozie! My friend, Leah, is moving to New York for an awesome internship this summer. She leaves at the end of May and was looking to travel the same day I am. So, with some help from her sister and dad finding a flight, it turns out we are going to be on the SAME FLIGHT TO NEW YORK! I also have that whole late afternoon/evening, so we are going to hang out and see a show and have so much fun!! Needless to say, I'm excited.

On a St. Louis job note, I'm freaking out about getting all my stuff packed...I hope I can do it!

So Tired

Well, if I'm tired, why am I not in bed? I'm grading. That's right, grading. And this post is one of the ways I'm keeping myself awake. It's working pretty well right now. Maybe I've gotten my second wind. After a few naps (sorry about our incoherent conversation Leah! Hope Florida's fun!) I'm back on track. Woo-hoo!

More Job News!

Well, for those who don't know I am currently teaching 7th grade math at a HUGE middle school in St. Louis County. It's close to where I live, it's a much better environment than my old school, and I am happier here. Woo-hoo! To add to all of the excitement, I found out this morning that I was offered a different position at my fabulous school. Starting next school year, I will be teaching FACS! (FACS is an acronym for Family And Consumer Sciences, probably known to most of you as "Home Ec." That term is no longer PC)

I am SO excited! That means no homework, not as much grading, more hands-on fun stuff to do with the kids, getting to know more students at the school, and giving a ton of applicable knowledge! Don't get me wrong. Math us super important and I love to TEACH it, but there are things I hate. I hate to grade it. I hate how some kids continuously do poorly. I hate how some kids just don't care. I hate that as important as it is, some kids can't relate it to the now. Well, goodbye calculators, hello kitchens!

We are getting an AWESOME new program next year along with brand new computers. My class sizes will be smaller. But I do have to pack up my classroom. Alright, I'm rambling now so I will stop this post. But I am excited!

More Details

I forgot! I will only be gone for one month, returning on the 29th of June. So, if I get the new job I can go to training for a week and we'll be able to maybe go to Oklahoma and go to Orlando and maybe the lake. So exciting!

EEK! Too Long, No Write.

I cannot believe how long it's been since I've posted! Well. Lots is going on.

I fully officially have my FABULOUS summer job! That's right, Bermuda here I come! I will be flying to New York on Saturday, May 31. I will get to spend the afternoon/evening there before sailing out Sunday morning. It's awesome because I'm hoping to see some friends (if that means you, shoot me an e-mail) and I may actually get to fly up with my friend, Leah! She's moving up there for the summer and may actually be leaving the same day I am!

I also have an interview tomorrow for a different position at my school. I'll let you know what I find out...hopefully sooner rather than later. I'm super excited. Plus, tomorrow evening we're going to Incredible Pizza Company to have an awesome time!

So, there you go! Oh yeah, and Jim's directing Beauty and the Beast. Fun stuff!
