Well, for those who don't know I am currently teaching 7th grade math at a HUGE middle school in St. Louis County. It's close to where I live, it's a much better environment than my old school, and I am happier here. Woo-hoo! To add to all of the excitement, I found out this morning that I was offered a different position at my fabulous school. Starting next school year, I will be teaching FACS! (FACS is an acronym for Family And Consumer Sciences, probably known to most of you as "Home Ec." That term is no longer PC)
I am SO excited! That means no homework, not as much grading, more hands-on fun stuff to do with the kids, getting to know more students at the school, and giving a ton of applicable knowledge! Don't get me wrong. Math us super important and I love to TEACH it, but there are things I hate. I hate to grade it. I hate how some kids continuously do poorly. I hate how some kids just don't care. I hate that as important as it is, some kids can't relate it to the now. Well, goodbye calculators, hello kitchens!
We are getting an AWESOME new program next year along with brand new computers. My class sizes will be smaller. But I do have to pack up my classroom. Alright, I'm rambling now so I will stop this post. But I am excited!
