Summer Job!

Okay, it's semi-official. To the point where I am willing to share it all on Blogger. That's right. I'm opening it all up. Are you ready?

I was trying for a summer job last year that did not work out because of scheduling purposes. I was totally bummed out because 1) it was something I really wanted to do and 2) I had told bunches of people about it and then it didn't happen at all. Guess who felt like the idiot.

So I decided that I would start a little sooner this year and see what would happen. Well, after lots of waiting, here goes!

I will be working this summer with NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINES ON THE NORWEGIAN DAWN!!!

Yes, that is where I will be spending part of my summer! So here's the "problem." I gave my availability as June and July. When I was e-mailed today with my ship assignment, she said she has me scheduled for June 1-June 29. I am actually available through the end of July. The question is whether I e-mail and remind her of this and possibly end up working 2 months as opposed to 1, or whether I just do it for the one month.

here are some reasons to tell her I could stay through July
1. This is somehting I've wanted to do for a while. I should take as much of the time as I can. I may never get the chance to do this again.
2. Even though it isn't the best paying job in the world, it would be more money.
3. Two months in BERMUDA has got to be better than one!

here are some reasons to ignore it
1. Jim and I would be apart for only one month instead of two.
2. We want to go to Disney World. Having a month off would give us more options as to when we go.
3. Camping with Drew and Tanya
4. Going to the lake with Janet and the kids

So, as one of my BFF's puts it, I will be in "Norwegia" for the summer. Give me your opinion (yes, I do have a hard time making up my mind) on the one month versus two months thing. I'll let you know more when I do!

Should Be Teaching...

So, we are doing MAP testing in the morning. I am not allowed to assign homework. My students are doing a project where they get to design/plan a dream vacation. AWESOME! They are having fun and spending WAY too much money. I am doing very little except trouble-shooting the laptops while they are searching various travel sites. (PS...in my challenge, pre-algebra, smarty pants class, I just had to tell one of my students not to lick the laptop screen. Nice.) Anyway...without divulging too much information, I sent in the last of my paperwork for my summer job and have been checking my e-mail every five minutes or so hoping for a response. Well, I'll let you know!
