Today we decided to go to the Church Bay beach. All of us were going to go, but when it was actually time to meet only Lego, Lollipop, and I showed up. Everyone else needed sleep after the previous evening’s festivities. We decided to go eat at the Officer’s Mess in our beach gear before we left. Of course, who is there but the Safety Officer. Nice. Oh well.
When we got off of the ship, Lego realized that she didn’t have a towel, so she went back to get one. Lollipop and I continued on to wait for the bus. One showed up and the next one would be 30 minutes later, but Lego wasn’t there yet. I started talking to one of the bus drivers who had a second bus for more people and said we could wait on Lego who we could now see. Even though he said it wasn’t a problem to wait, I waved at her to run because I had had to run the day before. I thought it was funny.
Church Bay, as with all of the other beaches, was absolutely beautiful. It was not, however, my favorite beach. The water was extremely rocky, there was very little actual beach space, there were jelly fish in the water, there were funny little snails, and something either bit or cut my toe. I was just standing in the water and suddenly I got a major pain in my toe. It wasn’t any more than a papercut would have been, but it was still weird. After our swimming, some of the other YCs met us there and we hung out for a bit. It was a lot of fun. Our bus ride back was a little bit crazy because the bus was so full. We stood the whole way.
We stopped by the small local mall for a bit and then headed back to the ship to go to the spa. Got to love the spa. So much fun!
That night was the Kid’s Crew Dinner and since I was on 10-12’s, we got to go to Aqua, one of the restaurants on the ship that I had never eaten at. It was a lot of fun and we ended up seeing Croc’s family at dinner there as well.
After dinner we went back to the T-Rex center for Officer Snook night. I somehow missed seeing the video again, but we had fun with the trivia, games, and Croc dressed up as Snook again. In fact, when we went to get Croc changed into the costume, Cupcake had hidden in the bag containing the costume and totally freaked him out. It was pretty funny.
After work, we were walking to our rooms and noticed that the S.T.Y.L.E. award nominees had been posted. These are monthly awards with various categories recognizing the on board employees. We nominated our supervisor for supervisor of the month, and it turned out that she had nominated our team for team of the month. She also nominated yours truly for rookie of the month! It was very exciting. Apparently very few YCs ever get nominated. The awards are sometime next week, so I’ll let you know how it turns out.
We decided to go out that night, so after drinking some at the crew bar we headed over to Snorkel Park. It wasn’t nearly as much fun as it had been the week before, but overall we had a great time. I learned a dance from one of the onboard dancers and had my first Dark ‘n Stormy for my D ‘n S passport. Good times. On the way back, we rocked one of the smaller docks, climbed out on someone’s boat, and watched one of the drunken fitness instructors take a swim in the icky dock water. It was pretty entertaining!
